Heritage Group
Warmington Heritage Group meets about eight times a year in the Village Hall, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7.30 pm. Meetings provide opportunities for members to talk about their current research, but are sometimes addressed by outside speakers, or take the form of visits to nearby houses or farms. The results of members' research have been made available in several exhibitions held in recent years. It is also intended to make the Group's work available both in book form and on the internet.
In 2007, the Group took first place in the Warwickshire Record Offices' Building Memories Competition.
The project, featuring Grove Farm and its farmland, alerted the Group to the rich archaeological potential of the area.
Since then, extensive field-walking, coupled with limited geophysics and excavation, have revealed evidence of land use throughout all periods from the hunter-gatherers of around 6000BC.
The Group is currently applying for funding to investigate Warmington's landscape more fully and involve the wider community in the project.
