News around the Village

Village Hall

A morning course in beginners' computing and an afternoon course in digital photography is offered for six weeks, starting on Wednesday 7th January.

To ensure a place on either course, contact the village hall secretary, Jenny Handscombe on 01295 690286.

The Village Hall will be holding its annual meeting on Monday 17th November at 8 pm.

All residents are warmly welcome to help share in the continuing success of this community facility.

Pilgrimage Walk

Congratulations to John Cole who has now completed the second stage of three on his 1,500 km pilgrimage walk through France and Spain.

He enjoyed warm autumn sunshine for much of this 550 km section, but encountered quite different weather conditions when he attempted to cross the Pyrenees on 2nd November.

He was caught in an unexpected blizzard at 900m and had to retrace his steps.

Happily he was able to complete the crossing two days later in fine weather by a lower alternative route.

John plans to start the third and final leg of his walk, following the pilgrims' route to St James at Compostela in Spain, on 15th March.

He hopes his sponsored walk will raise £5,000 for the Katharine House Hospice.

Services

Advent Sunday Mrs M Nutt will conduct the 3 pm service in the Methodist chapel.

At 5.30 there will be an advent carol service for the Edgehill group of parishes at St Peter's church, Radway.
