Archaeology Weekend

Calling all budding archaeologists!

The Heritage Group will hold a Family Event at the National Herb Centre over the weekend of 31st July and 1st August.

There will be activities for archaeologists of all ages, including hands-on excavation, metal detecting and identification of finds.

In addition Roman crafts and games will be on offer, together with demonstrations of Roman engineering techniques.

The event includes a rolling programme of talks on archaeology, Roman coins and metal detecting.

Keith from Fir Tree Falconry will give falconry displays, as well as bringing along polecats and ferrets.

The free event will run from 11 am till 4 pm each day.

All the usual amenities of the Herb Centre will also be available, including excellent food in the bistro, plant sales, and superb views of the surrounding area.

Craft Workshops

Taster sessions in various textile techniques will be on offer in the village hall during August.

There will be classes devoted to batik, felt-making and transfer printing.

The two hour sessions will run on most Thursday and Friday afternoons.

The fee of £12 per session will include all materials.
